Brrrr...!
Our weather sure has cooled down out, especially in the mornings. Please make sure that your child is wearing a sweater and/or jacket to school as the mornings have been quite chilly lately and I'm sure will only continue to grow colder.
Parent Volunteers:
There will be some opportunities coming up for parents to volunteer around the school and in the classroom. Our PAA has begun holding meetings, if this is something that interests you please contact the school to become a member of our parent committee! We do require that our volunteers have criminal record checks in order to help out with our students. If you pop by the office they will give you a letter to take with you to the RCMP building (by city hall) that will allow you to receive your criminal record check free of charge! The letters take 1 week to process.
Swimming Lessons:
We are incredibly lucky to have a swimming pool within walking distance of our school. Some classes will be starting swimming lessons this month! Ours are scheduled for November, a letter will be going out in October with more details about that. We will be looking for volunteers to help us make the trek to JJ Parr, if you are interested keep in mind that we will need the criminal record check done before that. We
ALWAYS need dads to come along on on this trip as there is a male and female change room and JJ Parr requires that we have an adult supervisor in each change room. Also the swim instructors are asking that we start collecting their previous swimming report cards so they can place your child in the appropriate level. If you have one of these send it in as soon as you get the chance and I'll begin collecting them.
Picture Day:
Picture day will be held on October 21st! More information will go out shortly.
Language Arts:
We have really been working on building our reading stamina for The Daily 5. We've steadily been increasing our time with "Read to Self" and have just introduced "Read to Someone" which has been a big hit! Here are some of our students hard at work reading to a buddy with their good fit books!
