Last Week of November Already?!

It's hard to believe that we are already wrapping up November! Where has this year gone?! It has been REALLY cold here over the past week but it looks like this week should be a little warmer. If there's snow on the ground though please make sure your kids are wearing snow pants, hats, kits and a scarf. There is nothing worse than coming in after lunch with soaking wet pants because you just couldn't resist playing in all of the snow even though you forgot your snow pants! Our staff are pretty good at reminding our little friends to put on their snow gear!

Language Arts:
We have been working really hard this past month on both reading and writing. We are currently working on making complete sentences and also on expanding our writing. This is something you could have your child do in their reading journal as well. If they were writing 3 word sentences before you could increase that to five. Have them write more exciting sentences and add more details.

Math:
We just completed a project in math that we called "10 Man!" Students rolled two dice to come up with a two digit number and then had to add 10 to that number. We then made a little "craftivity" to go along with it! They are currently hanging outside our classroom, come on down and take a peek! I'll post a picture under this little blurb sometime this week for those of you who don't get to come into the school that often. We are really getting comfortable with 2 digit by 2 digit addition (without regrouping) so we will be moving onto subtraction right away! Over the next few days have your child count by 2s, 5s and 10s and see how they do. This is something we are beginning to work on in class. We've done 10s to 100 and will be looking at 2s and 5s over the next few weeks.

Aviation Expo:
We have our Annual Aviation Expo coming up on Friday! Our kiddos, along with every other class in our school, have been working on their expo presentation for the past few weeks! On Friday all of the kids will perform their masterpiece and will get to watch the other classes as well. It should be a great afternoon full of new information and fantastic performances!

Scholastic Book Order:
There will be one more book order going out before Christmas. I will be sending it home this coming Friday and will be sending out the order on the 6th so we can guarantee that we'll have our books before the holidays!

** Spelling words for this week are posted under the Language Arts section!
